We are delighted to announce a fantastic line-up for the next musicmaker social!
Katie Kim: http://www.katiekim.bandcamp.com/
Katie Kim is the pseudonym of Katie Sullivan when she performs and records her Slowcore, ethereal, ambient folk/pop. Paired with vocals that have been compared to Zola Jesus, CoCo Rosie, Cat Power and Joanna Newsome , the music revolves and swims around layers of fuzzy drips and murky clouds but always seems to come to an elegant conclusion.
Her debut release "Twelve" was admired and praised throughout the country and prompted much collaboration with a spectrum of other artists including David Kitt, Milosh, Halves, Mike Scott and Tenpastseven among others.
The band have recently finished scoring and performing an original soundtrack in conjunction with the French Film Festival for Germain Dulacs 1927 controversial masterpiece, "The seashell &The Clergyman" , which was believed to be one of the first Avant Garde, Surrealist films ever made. They performed the soundtrack live to a sell out Audience and will be releasing the performance as a multi media package later this year.
Katie Kim has just finished Recording and producing her next release, "Cover&Flood", which will be a double vinyl release consisting of some 20 songs she recorded over the last 2 years. Some at home, some in Granny Studios and others by the sea.
Cover&Flood is due for release in September/October.
"Let us get to the heart of the matter straight away: Katie Kim’s shoegazing extravaganza Cover And Flood is very, very good. Appealingly minimal half-whispered melodies blend with primitive guitar arpeggios, or pianos and cellos, or organs and harmoniums, or drum-machine beatz, or electronic fuzz, and over it all varying degrees of echo, reverb, distortion and background noise wash like a comforting lo-fi sea."

Axis Of: http://axisof.bandcamp.com/
Axis Of are a powerful Alternative Hardcore band based in Belfast Northern Ireland. Despite their relatively young age they have made a tremendous impact with their uncompromisingly big sound, intense live shows and thoughtful lyrics.
Following a string of packed out gigs all over Ireland they are starting to bring the same momentum over the UK and further afield. After finishing 2010 supporting Irish titans Therapy? and And So I Watch You From Afar, 2011 started with a bang when they were chosen by Rocksound Magazine to record a session in the legendary BBC Maida Vale studios aired on the Daniel P Carter Rock Show. The following UK tour was their most successful to date with Rocksound magazine labeling them “The most exciting band to come out of Northern Ireland, possibly ever”.
The band, just off the back of a successful maiden trip around Europe, are bracing themselves for recording their debut album at the end of summer and with more tours booked right up to the release it’s essential you check this band out immediately.
Mia Sparrow: http://www.miasparrowmusic.com/
Dublin based three piece Mia Sparrow use guitars, drums, synths, omnichord and samples to make noise rooted in melody. Since forming in June 2009 after the demise of their former band, the critically-acclaimed Story of Hair, Paul and Ger, from Castlebar, Co Mayo, and Caroline, from Tipperary, have toured Ireland and played a BlueMusic showcase at the Fiddler’s Elbow in Camden Town, London. In 2010, with just a few home recordings under their belt, Mia Sparrow were chosen as one of five acts to play the Best of IMRO showcase in Dublin. They were subsequently invited to record a four-track session for the Dan Hegarty show on RTE 2FM which was broadcast in Spring 2011.
Tenaka: http://soundcloud.com/tenaka
Tenaka is a Limerick man, who lives in Galway and makes understated pastoral electronica in his spare time. Think the clockwork rhythms of Plaid, the folky sensibilities of Fridge, and some hushed singing.
