Gibson Acoustic J-45 M Mahogany Antique Natural

The J-45 was Gibson’s first model with the dreadnought shape, and is considered to be Gibson’s most popular and widely played acoustic. Its round shouldered design offers an accessible, comfortable playing experience. With Gibson’s 2019 version, a number of improvements offer a refreshed sound, while retaining the timeless looks and feel that put the J-45 on the map.

he J-45 was traditionally a Mahogany guitar, and this version remains true to the original design. Mahogany allows for hefty low-end projection and a dynamic midrange, the sound that helped define the Gibson Dreadnought formula. The two-piece Maple neck adds yet more dense brightness to the tonal palette, with a cutaway and Gibson’s advanced response neck offering a wholly comfy, ergonomic playing experience.

Richlite is used for both the fretboard and bridge; this dark but highly durable material is smooth and doesn’t age like natural tonewoods. This means that the J-45 AG simply won’t have problems with wear & tear, consistent resonance or bridge stability. The LR Baggs Element makes a return for the 2019 range; its under-saddle design relies entirely on the vibration of the soundboard. This means that your plugged-in sound won’t buzz or twang, but will sound the way you want it to.
