The Ibérica GS guitalele is a hybrid between guitar and ukulele, a crossover that guarantees hours and hours of fun and good music.  This Ibérica GS instrument brings the fun of the six strings on a smaller scale, with the quality guarantee of Ibérica, one of the most respected manufacturers of acoustic instruments in Portugal. The guitalele is like a mini nylon string guitar. It has the dimensions of a baritone ukulele, and is played like a standard guitar, since the tuning is a fourth above the traditional tuning of the guitar: Lá - Ré - Sol - Dó - Mi - Lá. It is as if they played a guitar tuned normally but with a dash on the fifth fret. The Ibérica GS model has a koa body, a species of acacia native to Hawaii. The natural characteristics of the wood stand out with its veins and variations of tone, in a final result that is aesthetically very appealing, exotic and natural. The neck is in mahogany and the scale is in black African wood. The Ibérica GS guitalele has a surprising volume and sound sustainability for an instrument of such small dimensions. It also has a pleasant and smooth tone, making it easily heard when accompanying other instruments or just as a support for the voice.

Ibérica was founded in 1976 by António Pinto Carvalho, who descends from a century-old school of luthiers in Porto. The company has about 45 artisans who build various types of traditional Portuguese and other musical traditions. Ibérica is the largest national company in this field, producing and selling instruments to more than twenty countries.

Carvalho Guitars was founded in 1976 with the aim of producing the finest quality stringed musical instruments, and they currently have roughly 45 luthiers at their Portuguese workshop. The company was founded by Antonio Pinto Carvalho himself, a descendant of the famous XIX Century Porto school of guitar players.
