It's That Most Glorious Time of Year!
And that header image is completely normal. Nothing wrong with it at all.
Look at the glorious attention you might receive! Rapt they are!
So you own a guitar and it's nicely warm out. It's definitely time to start a fire and bust out some tunes!
Making music around a campfire is a tradition as old as humanity itself.
It can be tough in the beginning though, figuring out which tunes to play, to learn. So here at Musicmaker, we thought we would curate a brief list of fun tunes with some YouTube links to get you on you way.
Let's check out some tunes.
Vance - Joy Riptide
It's a lovely tune and it's only four chords. You may need to practice the chords quite a bit to get the changes up to speed but start slowly and work your way up. The high notes on the vocal though.....best of luck.......
Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles
It is summer so it sorta makes sense, what with the sun and all. At least hopefully, it's never really a guarantee in Ireland. You will need to get yourself a capo for this one so you can check those out HERE.
Zombie by The Cranberries
There may be no better song to guarantee people are going to holler along for the chorus. It's just quality and everyone will love you. Promise.
Aint No Sunshine by Bill Withers
Get one of your buddies to beatbox the drum part and this will be ripper! Also, I feel like the message might be more appropriate Irish summers than that Beatles number....
About a Girl by Nirvana
There's a couple more chords in this one so it might take a little practice but it's worth it. It's just a lovely song. Practice slowly, enjoy yourself.
Bonus Tune!
Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Reading
For those of you with lovely singing voices this is a classic number, and it doesn't feature a wild amount of chords. A comprehensive lesson from good ol Justin.
So there you have it. Time to practice I'd say.
Possibly also gather some firewood, and maybe check the weather forecast, just in case.........

As always, why not pop in to us in Musicmaker and test out a few guitars, and ask about our staffs opinions about campfire songs. Or about guitars, or about anything you can think of.
We are always happy to help out.
Until next time.
