Blackstar Amps have introduced the latest iteration of its popular practice amp, the ID:Core. This fourth-generation model incorporates significant enhancements while retaining the attributes that have earned the compact amp its acclaim. While many players may eventually outgrow small practice amps, these amps play a vital role in a guitarist's journey and serve as convenient companions for casual strumming sessions.
The ID:Core series showcases Blackstar's commitment to evolving the formula. A standout feature is the updated speaker simulation, CabRig Lite, accessible through the complimentary Architect software. This software allows users to adjust elements such as cabinet and mic placement, complemented by Blackstar's advanced super wide stereo sound technology. The amp maintains Blackstar's patented Infinite Shape Feature (ISF), altering the overall tone stack response for bass, middle, and treble settings. Turning it left provides an American-sounding amp, while going right delivers a British tonal palette.
Continuing the tradition, the amp offers six amp voices: Warm, Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, and two Overdrive channels. Coupled with 12 built-in effects, including various delay and reverb types, phaser, chorus/flanger, envelope filter, and tremolo, these features can be customised with tap tempo parameters, except for reverbs and the envelope filter. A power reduction feature allows for neighbour-friendly volumes without sacrificing tone quality. USB-C connectivity enables home recording and live-streaming, facilitating easy sharing of performances on platforms like TikTok.
This upgrade caters to a broader audience with its four-channel USB-C audio for low-latency recording and high-quality re-amping, essentially turning the amp into an audio interface. Blackstar emphasises the linear speakers' suitability for connecting to gaming or movie setups. The amp includes a built-in tuner and power bank compatibility for busking. Additionally, it comes with Architect, Blackstar's patch editing software, enabling players to explore tone and effects parameters in-depth. Users can save up to six patches for quick tone changes and share presets through Architect, available on Windows and Mac.
