For decades, Fender has been utterly synonymous with excellence when it comes to electric guitars, serving as the cornerstone of countless classic tunes and guitar innovations. With each iteration, Fender has pushed the boundaries of innovation while staying true to its rich heritage. In the ever-evolving landscape of electric guitars, Fender continues to be an emblem of craftsmanship, tone, and versatility.

In one of the latest chapters in Fender's storied history comes the American Professional II series guitars, currently gloriously available in Musicmaker. Rooted in tradition yet propelled by innovation, these instruments epitomise the relentless pursuit of perfection that defines the Fender ethos.

The American Professional II series by Fender presents a fusion of superior playability and visually stunning aesthetics, guaranteed to thrill any guitar player. Crafted in Fender's esteemed Corona Factory located in Southern California, these guitars aim to redefine the benchmark for guitar and bass construction, boasting the renowned Custom Shop craftsmanship, pristine tone, and unmatched tactile sensation. Comprising three distinct guitar models – the Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Jazzmaster – each with its own distinctive configurations and components, the Fender American Professional II series stands out from the crowd.

The Fender American Professional II Telecaster

Preferential among countless artists spanning all musical genres, the Fender Telecaster reigns supreme. And now, it shines brighter than ever before. As you may have already discovered, Fender recently introduced their latest masterpiece: the American Professional II series of guitars and basses. Years of meticulous craftsmanship, fuelled by invaluable player feedback and exhaustive prototyping, have culminated in what we can unequivocally proclaim as Fender's finest 'standard' range to date.

We firmly believe that the pickups define the essence of a guitar. They serve as conduits, channeling the nuances of your touch through the instrument's timbers, into the pickups, and finally, to your amplifier and audience. Achieving the perfect balance is an intricate dance, especially when dealing with one of the most iconic guitar designs in existence! Guitarists possess discerning ears, particularly when it comes to Telecasters; authenticity is paramount.

Thankfully, Fender's Chief Engineer, Tim Shaw, is a virtuoso in the realm of pickups. His innovative approach has consistently imbued Fender's instruments with authentic voices, and his previous V-Mod pickups garnered widespread acclaim during the previous iteration of the American Professional series. Shaw's genius lies in his unconventional use of varying magnets within each pickup, prioritising sonic outcome over traditional notions of 'vintage' sound. Additionally, he experimented with magnet strengths, finely tuning his formula until each guitar resonated with life. The results spoke volumes, yet the goal was to exceed even these lofty standards. While Fender remains tight-lipped regarding the specifics of the magnets used in each model, we speculate that Shaw has employed a blend of Alnico II and V magnets for the Tele units. Whatever the precise formula, the American Pro II Tele emanates the quintessential Telecaster essence. From its initial sharp twang to its pronounced sustain and undeniable attitude, it's unmistakably a Telecaster. Teles have always possessed a punchy demeanour, and the American Pro II model perpetuates this legacy. It's bold yet nuanced, offering a level of control and expressiveness that sets it apart from its peers. Your playing dynamics shine through, responding to subtle volume adjustments, while the guitar's flexible yet unmistakable Tele tone captivates with every note.

Also, a popular post-purchase modification is now seamlessly integrated into the design. While some may question the appeal of series wiring, allow us to elaborate. Typically, pickups are wired in parallel, with each pickup routed to the guitar's output independently. Series wiring, however, connects the ground of one pickup to the hot wire of the next, creating a sequential circuit. In the case of a two-pickup guitar like the Telecaster, series wiring activates when the middle position is selected on the 3-way blade. Positions one and three function as usual, but the middle position blends both pickups simultaneously, yielding increased volume, enhanced midrange, and reduced high-end frequencies. It's akin to a humbucker, albeit not technically one. Nevertheless, our ears detect a remarkably similar outcome. From a two-pickup Telecaster? Absolutely! This feature is accessed via a push/push function on the tone control. Simply tap to engage series wiring, and tap again to deactivate. Honestly Delightful.

And the neck. Necks can make or break a player's connection with an instrument, making their design paramount. Recognising the recent trend towards more substantial neck profiles, Fender has designated the 'Deep C' profile as the standard for the American Pro II range. On a Telecaster, it's a match made in heaven! Providing a bit more heft to grip suits the Telecaster's rugged persona, reminiscent of a trusty wrench. However, the Deep C is far from a 'boat neck'; it's a subtly beefier interpretation of their modern C profile, never alienating players accustomed to slim shred necks.
