A Tasty Trio of Effects Pedals from the Guru

Not these ones though.....

And a very good day!

It's that time again. Pack a light lunch and let us be taken on a gentle journey. A sonic sojourn, if you will.

We can shall encounter a Beast of a Boost, find ourselves gripped by gain and end up swirling, disappearing in a mist of rotary revolutions.

Tighten your belt, we can have the sandwiches afterwards.

Take it away my friend.

The Pedals

Mooer Pure Boost Micro Pedal

This is the MOOER Pure Boost Pedal.  It offers a whopping 20dB of boost to your guitar amp! This is awesome for pushing the front end of your guitar amplifier over the edge and beyond.  If you’re not into a traditional Tubescreamer which can “colour” the tone of the amp, then the Pure Boost might be what you’re looking for.

MOOER have quietly crept up in the market in recent years, gaining a reputation for great pedal clones at super affordable prices. Usually when we see this, the cheaper parts that go into the units can be heard and are usually what let the pedals down. Not with Mooer. They really know how to do quality on a dime. And no better example than the Pure Boost - It legitimately sounds as good as any other high end transparent drive out there today.

This is a really simple pedal to use and what makes it stand out from other pedals like the BBE Boosta Grande for example, is the fact is has a 2 band EQ system on it, so you can dial in more lows or highs to suit the sound you have in your head.

We run through all it can do in as little time as possible, because we know you have better things to be doing that sitting in watching pedal videos all day... right? (fyi, it's all we do too!) Shop HERE!

Up Next......

JHS Pedals SuperBolt V2 Overdrive Pedal

The JHS Superbolt V2 refines the already popular Superbolt overdrive by improving the taper on the volume and tone controls and adding Red Remote functionality. Same classic, amp-like rock tones, just with better functionality and versatility.

The core sound of the Superbolt is based on the classic Supro amps of the 1960s such as those used most famously by Jimmy Page. The Superbolt offers classic, crunchy, old-school overdrive tones with plenty of warmth and roundness. There's no spiky, modern-style distortion to be found here. Much like its tone, the Superbolt has a no-nonsense control scheme. A volume control for, of course, controlling the volume; a tone control for adjusting the brightness; and a drive control for the gain. Finally, there's a gain switch placed in the middle of the controls which allows you to switch between two different styles of overdrive. In the down position you can achieve smoother and less aggressive tones allowing you to emulate the sound of an amp that's just breaking up into overdrive - ideal for blues-y styles. In the up position the tone gets dirtier with higher headroom and upper-mid emphasis for that classic heavy rock tone.

The improvements on the V2 allow you to access the range of sounds in the Superbolt with greater ease. The improved taper on the volume and tone controls mean you can be more precise when you're dialling in your tone. The ability to hook up a JHS Red Remote means you can activate the gain switch remotely using the footswitch which allows you to change the style of overdrive without taking your hands off the guitar!

We run through all the sounds and settings with no chat interruption whatsoever. Wish us well, and dream pleasant dreams.

And Finally......

Electro Harmonix - LESTER K - Stereo Rotary Speaker Emulator

It's always a cause for concern when you see a pedal trying to recreate something as monumental as a Leslie Speaker Cabinet. I've tried 10's of rotary effects pedals and while they were fun, they definitely didn't sound, or mainly, feel, like the real thing. We just took a giant leap closer though, thanks to the Electro Harmonix Lester-K!

Guitarists and keyboardists know that nothing beats a Leslie rotary speaker for smooth, swirling stereo chorus. The Electro-Harmonix Lester-K pedal re-creates the classic Leslie sound in pedal form with two adjustable speeds controlled by a footswitch to move between fast and slow textures without tying up your hands. The Lester-K's drive control adds B-3 guts and grit to your sound, while a balance control, which simulates the balance between a Leslie's horn and bass speaker, helps smooth out your tone. True stereo ins/outs and a stage-ready metal chassis make the Lester-K a great option for keyboardists wanting to add stereo textures to live work and ear-to-ear effects to recordings.

We go through it's settings with no faff so you can just hear what it's doing, uninterrupted. Shop HERE! Thanks!
