LP 204B Deluxe Black Beauty Cow Bell
There are few percussion sounds capable of improving a groove quite as quickly as a properly placed cowbell. And if you're going to bring one into the setup, the LP204B Deluxe Black Beauty Cowbell is hardly messing about. This is the gleaming chrome version of LP's legendary Black Beauty, with a bright, articulate voice and a slightly higher pitch than the original black model.
At 5 inches, the LP204B is compact enough to slot comfortably into a drum kit, timbale rig or larger percussion setup, but it has no difficulty making itself heard. Its bright tonal character gives notes excellent definition, while moderate overtones keep things musical rather than turning every strike into an endless metallic argument.
The slightly rounded playing surface is another classic LP touch. It makes finding a strong, consistent sound easier whether you're playing rhythmic patterns with the tip of the stick or giving it a more enthusiastic wallop with the shoulder.
Then there's the finish. The standard Black Beauty is, unsurprisingly, black; the Deluxe LP204B gets a mirror-like chrome finish that isn't merely cosmetic. LP voices this model with an even brighter character than the original, giving it a crisp presence that works beautifully for Latin percussion while being equally capable of sneaking into funk, rock, pop and whatever other genre has correctly concluded that it needs more cowbell.
Mounting is handled by LP's patented self-aligning eye-bolt system, which accepts rods from 3/8" to 1/2" in diameter. That makes it straightforward to integrate into a compatible percussion or drum-kit mounting system and, importantly, keeps the bell securely positioned once the sticks start flying.
Made in the USA using LP's specialist cowbell construction methods, the Deluxe Black Beauty is a proper professional percussion instrument rather than simply a shiny metal box that goes clang. Although, to be fair, it does go clang exceptionally well.
