Spira Guitars T-400 MWH Satin White
The Spira T-400 MWH Satin White looks like somebody took the classic T-style electric guitar, locked it in a room with a pile of modern metal records, and waited to see what came out. The silhouette might have familiar roots, but this is very much a modern, high-performance electric guitar built for big riffs, high gain and fast playing.
That Satin White finish with black hardware and black pickguard is an absolute belter too. Clean, stark and slightly menacing, it gives the T-400 a contemporary look without wandering into full spaceship territory. The body itself is made from roasted poplar, paired with a Canadian roasted maple neck for a stable, responsive foundation.
The neck is where things get particularly tasty. Spira uses a Modern D profile, a relatively flat 14" radius and 24 jumbo frets across its Ebony Tech fingerboard. Add the familiar 25.5" scale length and you've got a setup that's made for accurate riffing, quick lead work, big bends and generally getting around the fretboard without much resistance.
Then we get to the appropriately named Spira Villain™ humbuckers. This custom-made ceramic pair delivers a hefty 12k output, designed to retain clarity and articulation when the gain starts getting ridiculous. Chunky rhythm parts stay tight, individual notes retain definition and there's enough output on tap for rock, metal, alternative and all manner of heavier proceedings.
Controls are pleasingly uncomplicated – Master Volume, Master Tone and a three-way pickup selector – while the fixed bridge keeps things solid and straightforward. Locking tuners are another seriously welcome inclusion, helping with tuning stability while making string changes considerably less annoying.
At Musicmaker, this is exactly the kind of modern guitar that makes us raise an eyebrow at the price tag and go back through the spec sheet again. Roasted woods, 24 jumbo frets, locking tuners, high-output ceramic humbuckers and a hardtail bridge – Spira has put the money into places that players will actually notice.
And in Satin White? Absolutely savage.
