After a prolonged absence, the definitive Dobsky makes its triumphant return, evolving from the previous Dobsky VB with notable improvements and fresh aesthetics. The most striking update is the addition of two toggles. The low pass filter on the clean blend is now preset to subtly attenuate high frequencies, reminiscent of dialling back your bass tone knob to around 75%, allowing for distortion in the high frequencies while preserving clean midrange and low end. Although more pronounced on guitar, the low pass remains versatile and effective. Furthermore, various aspects of the circuit have been fine-tuned for a touch more gain, achieved by adjusting the input stage and incorporating NOS Russian diodes in the second clipping stage, renowned for their distinct saturation and character. These enhancements deliver a tone closely resembling reference muffs, ensuring optimal performance for both guitar and bass players alike. As with all Dobsky pedals, true bypass functionality is standard, and power is provided via the industry-standard (Boss style) negative tip 9V DC power supply, for optimal performance, a reliable regulated pedal power supply is recommended.
