Album for the Young OP.39 - Tchaikovsky

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "Children's Album," composed in 1878 and published that same year through P. Jurgenson, is a charming series of short piano solo pieces. The composer dedicated this delightful collection, officially known as Op. 39, to his nephew and beloved, Vladimir Davydov (1871-1906). Comprising 24 short movements, the longest of which spans a mere 85 bars, this musical gem captures the innocence and whimsy of childhood. It's worth noting that subsequent editions, in contrast to the first, utilised different numbering for the pieces, which can sometimes lead to some confusion. The entire set can be performed in about 28 minutes, making it a delightful and accessible addition to the world of piano music.
