For Alina - Arvo Pärt
In 1976, the prolonged silence finally gave way to the birth of music in the form of the piano miniature "Für Alina." It is evident that, with this piece, Pärt discovered his artistic identity, and the compositional technique he employed for the first time continues to inspire his body of work to the present day. Named Tintinnabuli (Latin for 'little bells') by Pärt himself, this technique is not characterized by a gradual increase in complexity. Instead, it emerges from an extreme reduction of sonic elements and the disciplined commitment to focus solely on the essential aspects of the composition. (Nora Pärt, Saale Kareda)
