More Than A Guitar Strap
The Story Behind Musicmaker's Premium Comfort Upcycled Leather Straps

Every guitarist owns a strap. Few ever stop to think about where it came from.
It hangs quietly over a shoulder at rehearsals, disappears beneath stage lights during gigs and faithfully carries an instrument through years of songs, sessions and late-night practice. It's one of the most overlooked pieces of gear a musician will ever buy, yet it's there for almost every memorable performance.
Perhaps that's why we felt it deserved a little more thought.
The Musicmaker Premium Comfort Upcycled Leather Strap isn't simply another guitar strap. It's the result of asking a different question. What if an everyday accessory could tell a remarkable story?
The answer begins in Dublin, continues in Northern Portugal and ends, hopefully, over the shoulder of a musician who values craftsmanship as much as the music itself.
Good Leather Deserves A Second Life
One of the quiet tragedies of modern manufacturing is how many beautiful materials never fulfil their potential.
Perfectly usable leather is discarded every day simply because it no longer fits the needs of another industry. It's durable, full of character and capable of lasting for decades, yet far too much of it is treated as waste. We thought that deserved a better ending.
Every Musicmaker Premium Comfort Upcycled Leather Strap is crafted from genuine upcycled leather, giving exceptional material a second chance to become something meaningful. Rather than hiding the natural character of the leather, every strap celebrates it. Gentle variations in grain, texture and colour ensure that no two are ever quite the same, making each one a genuinely individual piece of craftsmanship.
These aren't imperfections.
They're reminders that great materials already have a history before they ever reach your guitar.
Crafted By People, Not Production Lines
The story becomes even more remarkable when you discover who makes them.
Our straps are handcrafted in Northern Portugal in partnership with re.store, a social enterprise that believes meaningful craftsmanship should create meaningful opportunities. Through programmes supporting refugees, people living with disabilities, older workers and rehabilitation initiatives, re.store has built a workshop where exceptional products and social inclusion exist side by side. Many of our straps are handmade by a family of Syrian refugees now living in Braga, whose remarkable skills and dedication transform reclaimed leather into something built to accompany musicians for years to come.
That's a story you'll never find stamped onto the packaging of a mass-produced accessory.
And it's one we're incredibly proud to be part of.
Designed For Long Sessions, Longer Careers
A guitar strap should quietly disappear the moment you put it on. That's exactly what these do.
Designed by Musicmaker in Dublin, the Premium Comfort Upcycled Leather Strap combines generous width with beautifully supple leather to distribute weight comfortably across the shoulder, whether you're holding a lightweight Tele-style guitar or a substantial Les Paul through an entire evening's performance.
The adjustable 190cm length offers exceptional flexibility for every playing style, while robust leather ends provide the confidence that comes from knowing your instrument is securely supported gig after gig, rehearsal after rehearsal.
It's comfort without compromise.
Exactly as it should be.

Five Finishes. One Philosophy.
Great design rarely shouts. That's why we've chosen five timeless finishes that complement your instrument rather than competing with it.
The warm character of Brown, the rich depth of Dark Brown, the naturally aged personality of Worn Brown, the bold texture of Black Crocodile and the understated elegance of Classic Black each bring something different while remaining unmistakably Musicmaker.
Finished with a discreet embossed Musicmaker logo, every strap reflects the same philosophy that guided the project from the beginning.
Simple. Purposeful. Built to last.
Even The Label Has A Story
Most packaging serves one purpose. To be thrown away.
We thought that deserved another rethink. Every strap arrives with a plantable paper label, created from recycled cotton waste and embedded with seeds. Once your new strap is safely on your guitar, the label can be planted to grow wildflowers—a small but meaningful reminder that thoughtful design doesn't have to end when the box is opened.
It's a tiny detail.
But sometimes the smallest details say the most about the people who made something.

A Partnership Built On Shared Values
Some collaborations happen because they make commercial sense. Others happen because they simply feel right.
When we began developing the Musicmaker Premium Comfort Upcycled Leather Strap, we knew we wanted to work with people who cared as deeply about craftsmanship as they did about the impact their work could have beyond the workshop. That search led us to re.store in Northern Portugal.
More than a manufacturer, re.store is a social enterprise built around the belief that great products can create meaningful opportunities. Through fair employment and skills-based training, their workshops support refugees, people living with physical or mental disabilities, older workers, prison rehabilitation programmes and other community initiatives, proving that exceptional craftsmanship and social inclusion can go hand in hand.
Together, we created a strap that reflects the values both organisations believe in. Every piece is handcrafted from genuine upcycled leather, giving beautiful materials a second life while supporting a more thoughtful, sustainable way of making products.
For Musicmaker, this partnership is about more than producing a premium guitar strap.
It's about celebrating the people behind the craft, reducing unnecessary waste and proving that the products musicians use every day can tell stories worth sharing.
We couldn't think of a better company to make them with.

Carry Something Worth Carrying
Whether you're searching for a premium leather guitar strap, an upcycled leather guitar strap, a comfortable guitar strap, a handmade guitar strap, or simply a beautifully crafted accessory that reflects your values as well as your playing, the Musicmaker Premium Comfort Strap offers something genuinely different.
Not because it's louder. Or flashier. Or more fashionable.
But because every stitch represents craftsmanship, sustainability and the belief that beautiful things should leave the world a little better than they found it.
Some straps carry guitars.
This one carries a story.
