A drum throne is one of those bits of kit where “that'll probably do” stops being funny somewhere around the third song. If you're spending hours behind the kit, a decent seat isn't a luxury – it's part of the instrument. The Gibraltar 9608OS Oversized Moto Seat Throne takes that idea seriously, combining an extra-large saddle-style seat with proper memory-foam cushioning and a seriously sturdy 9000 Series base.

Up top is the main attraction: an oversized saddle seat measuring approximately 18¾" wide by 15¾" deep, with a generous 5" depth. The contoured motorcycle-style shape gives your legs room to move naturally around the pedals, while the memory foam cushioning provides the support you want during long rehearsals, recording sessions and those gigs where somebody thought three encores would be a terrific idea.

The seating surface uses tough Cordura fabric with vinyl side panels, giving it a comfortable cloth feel while being built with regular working-drummer use in mind. It's a substantial throne, but that's rather the point – the 9608OS is designed for players who value support, stability and plenty of seating area over shaving a few grams off the hardware bag.

Underneath, Gibraltar's heavy-duty double-braced tripod base provides a rock-solid foundation. The legs terminate in Gibraltar's chunky Super Foot rubber feet, helping keep everything planted while you're working both feet around the kit.

Height adjustment is handled by a threaded spindle system, giving you precise control over your playing position rather than a handful of predetermined holes. Current Gibraltar specifications put the adjustment range at approximately 21" to 27", while a memory lock helps you return to your preferred position after packing the throne down for transport.

There's also Gibraltar's Super-Lock cast seat fastening system, designed to keep the throne top securely connected to the base. Once you've found your position and locked everything down, the idea is beautifully simple: sit there and forget about it.

At Musicmaker, we'd happily argue that the throne deserves considerably more attention than drummers sometimes give it. You're balancing your entire playing position on the thing while asking all four limbs to do different jobs. The Gibraltar 9608OS gives you a massive comfy saddle, proper adjustment and a reassuringly beefy base. Your backside has done enough for the band. Treat it with some respect.
