New kids on the block

Novation has unveiled two exciting additions to their FLkey MIDI controller range, namely the FLkey 49 and FLkey 61. These latest controllers have been meticulously crafted to offer seamless integration with Image-Line's FL Studio DAW software, just like the existing models. However, they now come with larger keybed options and an extended set of controls, enhancing the user's experience.

Developed in close collaboration with Image-Line, these new controllers are designed to empower users with comprehensive control, eliminating the need to constantly switch back to their computer's keyboard and mouse. Dedicated buttons grant easy access to essential DAW functions, including transport, score log, undo, redo, quantize, and metronome triggering. Additionally, users can directly browse presets for Image-Line's stock plug-ins right from the FLkey controllers.

The range

The encoders from the previous models remain intact, and now they are accompanied by nine additional faders and buttons, providing users with hands-on control over FL Studio's Mixer and Channel Rack. These added controls also enable easy input of automation data. The built-in pads offer a quick and intuitive way to record and program drum parts. They also double as an efficient tool for pattern editing and direct control of the DAW's step sequencer.

In addition to the comprehensive control functionality, both FLkey models boast performance-based features that elevate the writing and recording processes. They offer three distinct Chord Modes: Fixed, User, and Scale. With these modes, users can trigger custom chords or chords in various scales with just one finger. Moreover, the Scale Mode enables users to select their preferred scale, ensuring that every triggered note will be in perfect tune.
