The Alvarez LD60e Laureate Dreadnought represents a serious step into bench-made territory. Every constituent part of the Laureate Series is hand-selected to achieve optimal structural integrity, tonal response and visual refinement — and the LD60e showcases that philosophy beautifully.

At the heart of this dreadnought is a AAA solid North American Sitka spruce top, wonderfully quartersawn and silked for strength and responsiveness. The stiffness and grain quality allow Alvarez to thickness-sand the top slightly thinner, enhancing vibration and dynamic response. The result is a voice that feels alive under the fingers — clear, powerful and beautifully articulate.

The back and sides are crafted from solid African mahogany, carefully selected and bookmatched for tonal consistency and aesthetic harmony. Mahogany brings warmth, punch and a focused midrange that suits strummers and fingerstyle players alike. Paired with the dreadnought body shape, the LD60e delivers strong projection and a full-bodied low end without losing clarity.

Internally, the guitar features hand-finished FS6 bracing, based on a traditional forward-shifted pattern. The braces are cut from quartersawn Sitka spruce and individually hand-sanded to refine weight and placement. This extra step enhances overall resonance and responsiveness, giving the guitar a more open and expressive character.

Appointments are equally premium. The bridge, fingerboard and headstock plate are cut from high-grade African ebony, chosen not just for looks but for its contribution to articulation, clarity and note separation. Premium abalone inlays add a luxurious yet tasteful visual touch, while bone nut and saddle ensure optimal tonal transfer and sustain.

The LD60e stays true to vintage inspiration with its single-level Laureate ebony bridge, a deliberate nod to traditional guitar building from the late 1800s through the 1930s. Premium open-gear tuners complete the classic aesthetic while offering smooth, precise tuning stability.

The finish is another highlight. Alvarez refined their sanding and painting systems to achieve an exceptionally thin clearcoat, resulting in a deep, flawless gloss that enhances resonance rather than choking it. The Natural gloss finish highlights the beautiful grain of the mahogany and spruce.

For live performance, the LD60e is equipped with the LR Baggs HiFi pickup system, delivering a natural, dynamic amplified tone that reflects the guitar’s acoustic voice with clarity and depth. It comes strung with D’Addario XSAPB1253 strings and includes an AFC30 case for protection.
