Alvarez LD70e Laureate Dreadnought - Herringbone Sunset
All-solid rosewood power with hand-finished precision and vintage character
The Alvarez LD70e Laureate Dreadnought represents the pinnacle of the Laureate Series’ bench-made philosophy — every component considered, every detail refined. Finished in a rich Herringbone Sunset gloss, this is a guitar that blends pre-war inspiration with modern craftsmanship and stage-ready performance.
At its core sits a AAA solid North American Sitka spruce top, beautifully quartersawn and silked for strength and responsiveness. The stiffness and grain quality allow Alvarez to thickness-sand the top slightly thinner, enhancing dynamic response and overall vibration. The result is a dreadnought voice that is open, powerful and highly articulate.
The back and sides are crafted from solid East Indian rosewood, hand-selected and bookmatched for tonal balance and visual symmetry. Rosewood brings deep piano-like lows, shimmering highs and complex overtones — the classic dreadnought sound for players who want authority, projection and harmonic richness.
Inside, the LD70e features hand-finished FS6 forward-shifted bracing, cut from finely grained quartersawn Sitka spruce. Each brace is individually hand-sanded to optimise weight and placement, allowing the top to resonate more freely. This attention to detail delivers enhanced sustain, quicker response and improved tonal balance across the frequency range.
Appointments reflect the Laureate commitment to premium materials. The bridge, fingerboard and headstock plate are cut from high-grade African ebony, chosen for its impact on articulation, clarity and note separation. Premium abalone inlays add understated luxury, while the bone nut and saddle maximise tonal transfer and sustain.
The distinctive Laureate ebony bridge stays true to traditional guitar design from the late 1800s to the 1930s, opting for a single-level construction rather than a modern bi-level design. Combined with ivoroid binding and subtle herringbone detailing, the aesthetic is classic, refined and timeless.
The Sunset gloss top paired with natural gloss back and sides creates visual warmth and vintage appeal. Alvarez refined their sanding and finishing process to achieve an exceptionally thin clearcoat, allowing the guitar to breathe while delivering a deep, flawless shine.
For live performance and recording, the LD70e is fitted with the LR Baggs HiFi pickup system, offering a natural, dynamic amplified tone that faithfully captures the guitar’s acoustic voice. It comes strung with D’Addario XSAPB1253 strings and includes an AFC30 case for protection.
This is a dreadnought built for players who demand depth, projection and refinement — a guitar that feels deliberate in every detail and sounds expansive from the first chord.
