Sometimes you need to practise drums without informing every human being within a three-street radius. The Remo 13" Silentstroke Tom/Snare Head is designed precisely for that situation, replacing a conventional batter head with a low-volume mesh alternative that lets you keep working on your technique without the usual acoustic drum-kit wallop.
Silentstroke heads use a durable single-ply mesh construction, producing a soft, springy response at extremely low volume. Unlike throwing towels over the kit or covering everything in rubber pads, you're still playing your actual drum with sticks, rims and hardware exactly where you expect them to be.
This 13" model can be used as a batter head on a compatible 13" tom or snare drum, making it ideal for home practice, teaching rooms and anywhere conventional drum volume simply isn't practical. The tension can also be adjusted through your drum's normal tuning system, allowing you to tweak the response to suit your playing.
There's another clever trick too: Silentstroke heads work well with external electronic drum triggers. That means an acoustic kit fitted with Silentstrokes can form the basis of a low-volume hybrid or triggered practice setup.
