Moog Subharmonicon Semi-Modular Analog Synth

The Subharmonicon is a semi-modular polyrhythmic analog synthesizer that features a 6-tone sound engine and a multi-layered clock generator, allowing for exploration of subharmonics, polyrhythms, and their unique interactions.

At the heart of the Subharmonicon are two analog VCOs and four Subharmonic Oscillators, providing six powerful sound sources. Each subharmonic tone is mathematically derived from the two main VCOs, resulting in beautifully coherent chord shapes. Onboard quantisation ensures perfect intervals every time, offering selections for multiple tuning systems: contemporary Equal Temperament, the harmonious intervals of Just Intonation, or the limitless freedom of no quantisation at all.

The Subharmonicon’s distinctive chord shapes are animated through a pair of 4-Step Sequencers, each clocked by any or all of the four Rhythm Generators. These generators output mathematical divisions of the master tempo, allowing you to layer multiple rhythms and create complex polyrhythms, inspiring new patterns and styles. The dual Envelope Generators, Moog Ladder Filter, and analog VCA provide dynamic articulations, ranging from lush pads and soft edges to percussive hits and ritualistic rhythms.

While no patching is necessary to begin creating, exploring the Subharmonicon’s modular patchbay unlocks endless possibilities. The 32-point 3.5mm patchbay can be self-patched to expand its onboard capabilities or interfaced with the Mother-32, DFAM, and other Eurorack-compatible gear (MIDI Type A adapter included for DIN to 3.5mm MIDI input). The Subharmonicon can be used as a standalone synth with the included +12V DC power supply, or the front panel can be removed for installation into any Eurorack system.
