The wound strings use a precise 92% copper, 7.7% tin and 0.3% phosphorus alloy, wrapped around a tin-plated hex-shaped steel core. Tonally, that gives the Earthwood Phosphor Bronze range a slightly warmer, mellower character than Ernie Ball's 80/20 Bronze Earthwoods, while still retaining plenty of sparkle and definition in the upper register.

The .012–.054 Medium Light gauge is a brilliant everyday choice for steel-string acoustic guitar. There's enough tension to drive the top nicely when you're strumming, but they're still comfortable enough for fingerstyle, flatpicking and general playing. The individual gauges are .012, .016, .024w, .032, .044 and .054.

These are uncoated strings, so you're getting that immediate, direct phosphor bronze feel under the fingers. If your acoustic has started sounding a bit tired and uninspiring, a fresh set of 2146s can be a remarkably cheap way of reminding yourself why you liked the guitar in the first place.
