Ashdown KT-15FX Killer Tone Guitar Combo
Ashdown KT-15FX Killer Tone Guitar Combo
Small practice amps should make you want to pick up the guitar more often, and that's exactly the thinking behind the Ashdown Killer Tone KT-15FX Guitar Combo. Compact enough to live happily in a bedroom or practice corner, but loaded with enough sounds to keep things interesting, this 15-watt solid-state combo delivers warm, tube-inspired character without the volume, maintenance or fuss of a valve amp.
The KT-15FX runs through a single 8-inch speaker and gives you two channels – Clean and Overdrive. That makes it easy to move from crisp practice tones into crunchy riffs and driven lead sounds without needing to start building a pedalboard around it. Simple controls keep everything approachable, which is exactly what you want when inspiration strikes and you'd rather play than spend ten minutes navigating menus.
Where the FX model really earns its name is the onboard 16-way digital effects section. You've got a selection of reverbs, delays, modulation sounds and combination effects ready to go, giving you plenty of room to experiment. Add a touch of reverb to a clean sound, throw some delay onto a lead line or get properly adventurous with the modulation options – there's loads here to keep practice sessions from becoming stale.
Ashdown has also covered the everyday essentials. A line input lets you connect an external audio source and jam along with songs or backing tracks, while the headphone output means late-night practice doesn't have to become a household diplomatic incident.
For beginners, developing guitarists or experienced players looking for a compact amp to keep within arm's reach, the Ashdown Killer Tone KT-15FX makes a cracking little practice companion. Fifteen watts, two channels, sixteen effects and no unnecessary nonsense – plug in and get playing.
