Sometimes the simplest monitoring solution is the best one. The LD Systems HPA 1 Headphone Amplifier is a compact, powerful personal headphone amp designed for wired in-ear monitoring, stage use, studio sessions and home recording, giving musicians direct control over what they're hearing without the expense or complexity of a wireless IEM system.

The HPA 1 features two balanced locking XLR inputs for left and right signals, plus a separate 3.5mm stereo AUX input that can be used simultaneously for a click track or playback. That's particularly handy for drummers, keyboard players and other musicians who want their monitor feed from the desk while keeping a click or backing track close at hand.

Controls are refreshingly straightforward. You get Volume and L/R Balance, along with a Stereo/Mono Focus switch for summing the stereo signal when required. There's also an integrated audio limiter, helping keep sudden peaks under control and providing an extra layer of protection during monitoring.

Everything comes through a standard 3.5mm stereo headphone output, with support for headphones and in-ears down to 16 ohms per channel. Power comes from either a 9V battery or optional 9V DC power supply, with up to approximately 12 hours of battery operation available. At only around 155g, and with a belt clip included, it's perfectly suited to wearing during a performance.
