D'addario 11-49 Medium, XS Nickel Coated Electric Guitar Strings
D'addario 11-49 Medium, XS Nickel Coated Electric Guitar Strings
Bold Feel. Ultra Durable Tone. The D’Addario XS Nickel 11–49 Medium Gauge Set delivers the power, punch, and rich tonal detail you expect from a medium set—now with next-generation longevity and smooth playability thanks to cutting-edge XS coating technology. These are strings built for guitarists who want to dig in hard without sacrificing clarity or consistency.
Featuring a high-carbon NY steel core wrapped in premium nickel-plated windings, this set provides crisp attack, vibrant mids, and tight low-end definition—perfect for blues, rock, jazz, or modern alt tones. The XS coating applies a super-thin film to every wound string, dramatically increasing resistance to corrosion and gunk build-up while keeping that natural, uncoated feel under your fingers.
With medium tension and a gauge range of .011 to .049, these strings offer strong projection, dynamic response, and solid tuning stability, especially under heavy bending or drop tunings. The plain steels are treated with a polymer to match the coated wound strings in both tone and feel—keeping everything consistent from top to bottom.
At Musicmaker, we recommend XS Nickel 11–49s for players who want premium tone, longer string life, and a touch of added tension for confident control in both rhythm and lead work.
