PureSound Custom Series Snare Wire, 20 Strand, 14 Inch
When it comes to capturing the full expressive potential of your snare drum, the snare wires matter just as much as the shell, heads, or tuning—and few do it better than PureSound’s Custom Series. This 20-strand, 14" model strikes the perfect balance between crisp articulation and dynamic nuance, making it the go-to upgrade for drummers seeking refined sensitivity across all playing volumes.
Crafted from medium-gauge steel wire, the Custom Series delivers a fast, articulate response with just the right amount of snap. Whether you're digging into backbeats or ghosting your way through delicate passages, this wire reacts quickly without choking the drum’s natural tone. Its even tension distribution across the 20 strands ensures clean, focused articulation with minimal sympathetic buzz—ideal for studio, stage, and everything in between.
The Custom Series also features brass end plates, which not only offer increased durability but also improve the overall contact with the drumhead for greater tonal consistency. Designed to fit standard 14" snare drums, this model is compatible with most throw-off systems and is easy to install.
At Musicmaker, we often recommend the PureSound Custom Series for drummers upgrading stock snare wires—it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to instantly refine your snare tone, especially for those working in styles where clarity and response are non-negotiable.
