Stagg SHV5A Pair of Hickory Sticks, V series/5A - Wooden Tip

Stagg SHV5A Pair of Hickory Sticks, V series/5A - Wooden Tip

There’s a reason 5A drumsticks are everywhere: they sit right in that magical middle ground where they’re substantial enough to give the kit a proper whack, but nimble enough that you don’t feel like you're drumming with two bits of garden furniture. The Stagg SHV5A V Series Hickory Drumsticks are a straightforward, affordable pair for practice, rehearsals, lessons and general kit-bashing.

Made from hickory, these sticks offer the familiar balance of strength, flexibility and shock absorption that has made the wood such a standard choice for drumsticks. Whether you're working on rudiments at home or settling into a full-band rehearsal, they're designed to provide a comfortable everyday playing feel.

The 5A size is one of the great all-rounders of the drum world. It's particularly handy if you're still discovering what stick size suits you, but it's equally useful for experienced players who want something versatile enough to move between rock, pop, funk, indie and lighter playing without constantly changing sticks.

A traditional wooden oval tip gives you a natural response from drums and cymbals, with plenty of articulation for hi-hat and ride patterns while retaining a satisfyingly organic attack around the kit.

At Musicmaker, we'd consider a decent pair of 5As pretty much essential drum-bag territory. The Stagg SHV5A keeps things beautifully uncomplicated: hickory, wooden tips, classic 5A proportions and a price that means breaking one doesn't require a period of mourning.
