Epiphone J-45 Standard EC - Honeyburst

The Epiphone J-45 Standard EC in Honey Burst takes one of the most celebrated acoustic guitar designs in history and adds a feature many modern players have long wished for: a cutaway. Part of the Inspired by Gibson Collection, it delivers the unmistakable warmth, balance, and versatility of the legendary J-45 while offering improved access to the upper frets for lead playing, solo arrangements, and more adventurous musical exploration. Known affectionately as "The Workhorse," the Gibson J-45 has been a cornerstone of acoustic music since 1942. Its reputation was built on reliability, versatility, and a rich, balanced voice that feels equally at home in the hands of singer-songwriters, folk musicians, country players, rock artists, and studio professionals. The J-45 Standard EC proudly continues that tradition.

Built with a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, it features one of the most beloved tonewood combinations in acoustic guitar history. The spruce top provides clarity, articulation, and dynamic response, while the mahogany body contributes warmth, punch, and a beautifully balanced midrange. As a fully solid-wood instrument, the guitar's voice will continue to mature and develop character over time, rewarding years of regular playing.

The round shoulder cutaway body shape retains the classic J-45 character while making the upper register far more accessible. Whether you're adding melodic flourishes to a performance or venturing higher up the neck for solos, the cutaway opens up new creative possibilities without sacrificing the familiar feel of a traditional J-45. The one-piece mahogany neck is joined to the body using a tapered dovetail joint, helping maximise resonance and sustain. Its comfortable Rounded C profile feels immediately familiar in the hand, while the rosewood fingerboard, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and traditional Kalamazoo-style headstock complete the vintage-inspired aesthetic.

For performers, the J-45 Standard EC comes equipped with a Fishman S-Core under-saddle pickup and Fishman PreSys II preamp system. This versatile electronics package delivers a natural amplified acoustic sound and includes controls for volume, bass, treble, and phase adjustment. An onboard tuner makes quick tuning checks effortless, whether you're on stage, in the studio, or rehearsing at home. Premium appointments such as a bone nut and Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure excellent tuning stability and dependable performance, while the striking Honey Burst finish gives the guitar a timeless, stage-ready appearance.

At Musicmaker, the J-45 remains one of the most respected acoustic designs ever created. The J-45 Standard EC builds on that legacy beautifully, offering classic tone with modern practicality.
