Alvarez AED66ce Artist Elite Solid Top Dreadnought with Cutaway
All-mahogany warmth, premium comfort and stage-ready control
The Alvarez AED66ce Artist Elite is a lively, responsive dreadnought designed for players who love the warmth and focus of mahogany — but want it dressed in refined, modern appointments. Built with a solid African Mahogany top and African Mahogany back and sides, this guitar delivers a warm, woody voice with clear bass response and smooth, glistening trebles.
Mahogany’s natural tonal character gives the AED66ce strong low-mid presence and an organic, connected feel across the fretboard. It’s a powerful strummer with excellent projection, yet articulate enough for fingerstyle work. The dreadnought body ensures plenty of headroom and fullness, making it a versatile choice for singer-songwriters and gigging players alike.
One of the standout visual and comfort features is the standard-width ebony bevel armrest, specifically shaped for the dreadnought body. It not only adds a premium aesthetic touch but also improves long-session comfort — a small detail that makes a big difference when playing live or rehearsing for hours.
Internally, the AED66ce features Alvarez’s FS6 forward-shifted bracing pattern, allowing for a larger vibrating soundboard area around the bridge. This enhances resonance and responsiveness, working alongside the solid mahogany top and premium components to create an engaging, dynamic playing experience.
As part of the Artist Elite Series, this model benefits from high-end materials and refined detailing. East Indian rosewood is used for the fingerboard and headstock fascia, while the Bi-Level Indian rosewood bridge ensures excellent tonal transfer and sustain. MOP and acrylic inlays add subtle elegance, and chrome closed-gear tuners provide smooth, reliable tuning stability. A bone nut and saddle further enhance clarity and sustain.
The cutaway design allows easy upper-fret access, making lead work and higher-register playing feel natural and fluid. The African mahogany neck meets the body at the 14th fret and features 21 frets for comfortable range.
For stage performance, the AED66ce is fitted with the LR Baggs StagePro Bronze system, incorporating the renowned Element under-saddle pickup. This low-profile, side-mounted EQ includes a large backlit tuner, volume, bass and treble controls, plus a phase switch for feedback control. The battery box is conveniently integrated into the endpin jack compartment for quick, hassle-free changes.
Like other Alvarez models, the AED66ce benefits from ATR™ (Advanced Tonal Response) treatment. Through oxygen-controlled curing and thermo-kiln processing, the wood achieves enhanced stability and resonance from day one, delivering improved clarity, quicker response and greater tonal maturity.
It’s exactly the kind of premium solid-top dreadnought that feels right at home in Musicmaker — visually refined, tonally rich and built for real-world playing.
