Pre-Owned Meinl Byzance 10" Polyphonic Splash

Pre-Owned Meinl Byzance 10" Polyphonic Splash

Small cymbal. Big personality. And absolutely no intention of politely sitting at the back of your drum kit. The Pre-Owned Meinl Byzance 10" Polyphonic Splash is a wonderfully expressive little effects cymbal that delivers a fast, explosive accent with plenty of musical character. If your setup could use a splash of colour, a little extra attitude or something to make those quick accents really jump out of the mix, this is exactly the sort of cymbal worth getting excited about.

Part of Meinl's highly regarded Byzance series, the Polyphonic Splash takes a more sophisticated approach to the traditional splash cymbal. Rather than delivering a simple burst of high-frequency noise, it's designed to produce a complex blend of tones, with a crisp initial attack, colourful overtones and a quick, controlled decay.

The result is a 10-inch splash cymbal with a wonderfully lively response. Give it a light tap and it responds with a delicate, shimmering accent. Hit it with a little more enthusiasm and it opens up into a bright, explosive splash that cuts through the music before disappearing almost as quickly as it arrived.

And that's exactly what makes a good splash cymbal so useful. Unlike a crash cymbal that can hang around for several seconds, the Meinl Byzance Polyphonic Splash is all about punctuation. It's perfect for adding quick accents between phrases, highlighting transitions, decorating fills or dropping a little unexpected colour into a groove.

The polyphonic character is where things get particularly interesting. By combining different tonal qualities within a single cymbal, Meinl has created an instrument that feels more textured and expressive than a conventional bright splash. There's enough clarity to make accents stand out, but also enough complexity to keep things sounding musical rather than harsh.

That makes it a fantastic addition to a wide variety of drum setups. Whether you're playing funk, fusion, jazz, progressive rock, gospel or modern pop, a splash like this can add another layer of expression without taking up much space around the kit.

It's particularly enjoyable for drummers who like building intricate cymbal patterns. Pair it with a larger crash for contrasting accents, position it near your hi-hats for quick left-hand hits or incorporate it into a compact effects stack. Its small diameter makes it easy to squeeze into a busy setup, which is excellent news for drummers whose cymbal collection is already threatening to become an architectural project.

As part of the Meinl Byzance range, this cymbal benefits from the craftsmanship and musical attention to detail that have made the series popular with professional drummers. Byzance cymbals are known for their expressive personalities, and the Polyphonic Splash is very much in that tradition.

Being a pre-owned cymbal, this is also a great opportunity to add something distinctive to your setup without necessarily paying the price of a brand-new model. As with any used cymbal, the exact cosmetic appearance and playing condition should be assessed individually, but a well-maintained splash can provide years of musical enjoyment.

For drummers searching for a pre-owned Meinl Byzance splash cymbal in Ireland, this 10" Polyphonic Splash is a cracking choice for adding fast, colourful accents and extra musical expression to an acoustic drum kit.

It's quick, responsive, full of character and ready to make its presence known.

Which, considering it's only ten inches across, is quite an achievement.
