Remo 14" Controlled Sound Coated Black Dot
Remo 14" Controlled Sound Coated Black Dot
The Remo 14" Controlled Sound Coated Black Dot is one of those drum heads that needs very little introduction. For decades, it has been a fixture on stages, in studios, and on countless recordings, earning its reputation as a go-to choice for drummers who want power, durability, and focused attack without sacrificing feel.
At first glance, it's instantly recognisable. That famous black centre dot has become a badge of honour among hard-hitting drummers, but it's far more than a visual trademark. By reinforcing the centre of the head, the dot adds durability where sticks make the most contact while also helping to control overtones and focus the drum's voice. The result is a punchy, articulate sound with plenty of projection and a satisfying crack that can cut through even the busiest mix.
Built from a single ply of 10-mil coated film with an underside black dot, the Controlled Sound strikes a brilliant balance between openness and control. It retains the sensitivity and responsiveness of a single-ply head while delivering extra attack and longevity compared to a standard coated head. Whether tuned high for crisp articulation or lower for a thicker, more aggressive voice, it responds beautifully across a wide tuning range.
It's no surprise that generations of rock, pop, funk, and session drummers have trusted the Controlled Sound as their snare head of choice. It has a way of making a good snare drum sound great and a great snare drum sound downright dangerous.
At Musicmaker, the Remo Controlled Sound remains one of those heads that never really goes out of fashion. Trends come and go, but some products become classics for a reason.
