Taylor 214ce Plus Torrefied Spruce / Rosewood
Taylor 214ce Plus Torrefied Spruce / Rosewood
This is the Taylor 214ce Plus — a Grand Auditorium acoustic‑electric that blends classic tone, player comfort, and stage readiness. In its “Plus” form, Taylor takes the trusted 200 Series template and upgrades it: full gloss, refined appointments, and that sweet, open tone you’d expect from a seasoned instrument.
At its heart, the 214ce Plus uses a solid torrefied spruce top. The torrefaction (a gentle heat treatment) gives the spruce a matured, “played-in” character from day one — leaning slightly warmer, more stable, and responsive. It helps the guitar sing in a way that sounds less “new guitar” and more “well-loved instrument.” Beneath the top lies a C-Class bracing pattern that enhances volume and clarity, while maintaining balance across the fretboard.
The back and sides are layered Indian rosewood, delivering tone that complements the spruce’s clarity with warmth, depth, and harmonic richness. The rosewood layering adds stability (less prone to warping) while still supporting robust frequency response. Together with the torrefied spruce, you get a signature Taylor “sweet spot” — clear highs, punchy mids, and a core of solid fundamentals.
Playability is key. The neck is slim and comfortable, ideal for chord work, fingerstyle, and lead runs alike. The Venetian cutaway gives you upper fret access without compromising body balance or aesthetics. Taylor’s Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup presides over the electronics: a behind-the-bridge, three-sensor array that picks up string vibration precisely, giving you a natural plugged tone with minimal coloration.
With this guitar, you get a workhorse that shines in living rooms, studios, and stage rigs. It’s responsive enough for delicate fingerstyle, punchy enough for strumming, and articulate enough to hold its own in ensembles. In the hands of a creative player, it’s more than an instrument — it’s a tone engine.
