Taylor 80761 Ebony Guitar Slide, 3/4”
Taylor 80761 Ebony Guitar Slide, 3/4”
There’s something wonderfully different about playing slide with wood rather than the usual glass, brass or steel. The Taylor 80761 Ebony Guitar Slide – 3/4" is crafted from genuine West African ebony, giving you a warm, smooth and slightly softer tonal character that works beautifully on both acoustic and electric guitar.
Compared with the brighter, harder attack of many metal slides, ebony produces a more rounded and forgiving response, taking some of the sharpness out of the initial note while still delivering the sustain and fluid movement you want from slide playing. It's particularly lovely for blues, roots, folk and acoustic playing where warmth and touch really matter.
It's also noticeably lightweight, making it comfortable on the finger and easy to control. This 3/4" model has an internal diameter of approximately 20mm and a length of around 52.8mm, providing a comfortable medium-sized option for plenty of players.
There's a nice sustainability story behind it too. Taylor makes these slides using West African ebony sourced and processed in Cameroon, finding another useful home for this precious timber beyond its use in guitar construction.
At Musicmaker, we love accessories that can genuinely change the way you approach the instrument, and this little ebony slide certainly qualifies. If you've only ever played glass or metal slides, the Taylor Ebony Slide offers a beautifully warm alternative that's well worth getting your fingers around.
