Tony Dixon TB022D Tuneable Flute / Whistle Duo, Key of D

Tony Dixon TB022D Tuneable Flute / Whistle Duo, Key of D

Two instruments, one ingenious design. The Tony Dixon TB022D Tuneable Flute / Whistle Duo is a modular marvel, ideal for traditional musicians who want tonal flexibility without the clutter of multiple instruments. Whether you're piping out a reel on a tin whistle or sweeping through an airy slow air on a transverse flute, this clever setup lets you switch styles in seconds—without changing your grip on quality.

Made from robust, lightweight ABS polymer, this duo is designed with durability and player comfort in mind. It's practically immune to the mood swings of Irish weather—no worries about moisture warping your tone. The whistle head offers a pure, bright timbre with solid back pressure, while the flute head responds beautifully across the range, especially when you dig into the lower octave. Thanks to the tapered bore, this instrument delivers a surprisingly full-bodied tone, especially for a polymer build.

Both heads connect to the same body, meaning less to carry and more to play. And because it's tuneable, you’re free to adjust pitch on the fly—essential when you're joining forces with other instruments, or simply want to match your own ear.

At Musicmaker, where we've been helping Ireland's musicians find their sound since the early '80s, we're fond of gear that punches above its weight. The TB022D is one of those rare pieces: reliable, musical, and refreshingly affordable.
