There’s something deeply satisfying about a bass combo that delivers proper gigging power without requiring a forklift. The Ashdown UK-OBM-C112-300 1 x 12" 300W Bass Combo takes the straightforward, player-friendly philosophy of the UK-OBM range and combines it with a premium lightweight speaker setup for a compact rig that's ready for rehearsals, recording and smaller live shows.

At its heart is a 300-watt power section driving a premium Sica NEO 12" speaker and tweeter. The neodymium speaker keeps the weight down while delivering tight lows, clear mids and plenty of definition up top. The whole combo weighs just 13.5kg, which is remarkably civilised for a 300-watt bass amp capable of coming along to the gig.

Tone shaping comes courtesy of Ashdown's excellent 5-band EQ, giving you dedicated control over Bass, Low Mid, Middle, High Mid and Treble. There's plenty of range for everything from thick, rounded old-school bass sounds to punchier, more articulate modern tones, without turning the front panel into the cockpit of a small aircraft.

For an instant tonal change, hit Ashdown's familiar Shape control, which gives you a ready-made contour with enhanced low-end depth and top-end clarity. It's great when you need to quickly find a polished bass sound and get on with playing.

Connectivity is equally practical. You've got High and Low instrument inputs, a Line Input, balanced XLR DI output for sending your signal straight to the PA or recording desk, plus an effects loop for integrating your pedalboard. There's even a headphone output for silent practice, making the OBM-C112-300 surprisingly useful at home considering the horsepower available when you turn it loose.

Then there's the styling. Charcoal Tweed, Silver Weave grille cloth and that unmistakable Ice Blue control panel give the combo a lovely boutique flavour, while the amp itself is built in the UK. It looks refreshingly different without getting silly about it.
