Ashdown Geezer Butler Pedal Of Doom

If your bass tone needs a little more doom, you could buy another distortion pedal. Or you could go directly to the man who helped invent the sound of heavy metal. The Ashdown Geezer Butler Pedal Of Doom was developed in collaboration with the legendary Black Sabbath bassist, taking inspiration from the monstrous tone and flexibility of his Ashdown Head of Doom and squeezing it into one gloriously substantial stompbox.

This isn't simply a signature distortion pedal with Geezer's name slapped across the front. At its heart is a seriously powerful dual-EQ system, allowing you to create two distinct bass sounds and switch between them. Each side gives you control over Bass, Low Mid and High Mid frequencies, alongside a shared Treble control. That means you can have one setting dialled for a huge, warm fundamental tone and another ready to punch through with more midrange aggression.

Then you hit DOOM.

The dedicated drive circuit takes you from subtle vintage-style grit and harmonic warmth through to properly filthy, saturated bass distortion. Crucially, the EQ architecture gives you plenty of control over which frequencies you're feeding into that drive, so you can get nasty without simply turning your bass into an indistinct wall of fuzz.

And because this is Ashdown, there are two illuminated VU meters staring back at you. They're not just there because they look ridiculously cool (although they absolutely do); they allow you to monitor input and output signal levels and keep gain changes under control.

For live and studio use, there's also a transformer-isolated balanced DI output with Ground Lift, allowing the Pedal Of Doom to sit at the heart of a bass rig or send your signal directly to front of house or recording equipment.

It's big. It's heavy. It's unapologetically over-engineered. And it has DOOM written on the footswitch.
