Ernie Ball 2214 Mammoth Slinky Electric Guitar Strings, 12-62

Ernie Ball 2214 Mammoth Slinky Electric Guitar Strings, 12-62

The Ernie Ball 2214 Mammoth Slinky Electric Guitar Strings (12–62) are not here to play politely. Built for heavy riffs, aggressive tunings, and players who like their guitars sounding absolutely massive, these strings are a favourite among modern rock and metal guitarists chasing crushing low-end power without sacrificing clarity or tuning stability.

Designed specifically for lower tunings, the Mammoth Slinky set combines heavy bottom strings with slightly more manageable trebles, creating a balanced feel that keeps chords tight and articulate while still allowing for lead work and bends that don’t feel like a wrestling match. Whether you’re tuned down to Drop C, Drop B, or experimenting even further into sonic mayhem, these strings hold tension beautifully and stay remarkably focused under heavy attack.

Tonally, the 12–62 gauge delivers huge punch and authority. Palm-muted riffs hit hard, low notes stay tight instead of flubby, and high-gain tones retain definition even under thick distortion. At the same time, Ernie Ball’s signature Slinky feel keeps the set surprisingly playable despite the heavier gauge, making them a solid choice for players who want power without completely sacrificing comfort.

Built from nickel-plated steel wrapped around a hex core, Mammoth Slinkys offer strong output, bright harmonic response, and dependable durability for regular rehearsals, recording sessions, and live gigs. At Musicmaker, these are a go-to recommendation for players using baritone-style tunings or heavier modern setups that demand extra string tension and tonal precision.
