Ernie Ball 3223 Super Slinky Light Electric Strings (.009-.042) 3 Pack
Ernie Ball 3223 Super Slinky Light Electric Strings (.009-.042) 3 Pack
There are certain packets you can spot from the other side of a guitar shop, and the unmistakable pink Ernie Ball Super Slinky packet is definitely one of them. The Ernie Ball 3223 Super Slinky Electric Guitar Strings (.009–.042) 3-Pack gives you three complete sets of one of the most popular light-gauge electric strings around – ideal for players who like an easy, fast and wonderfully bendable feel.
The classic 9–42 gauge runs .009, .011, .016, .024w, .032 and .042, giving the treble strings a light, responsive feel that's particularly friendly for big bends, vibrato and faster lead playing. There's still enough substance in the wound strings to keep chords and rhythm work feeling defined, making Super Slinkys a genuine all-rounder rather than purely a lead player's set.
Construction follows the tried-and-tested Slinky recipe. The wound strings use nickel-plated steel wrapped around hex-shaped steel cores, while the plain strings are made from specially tempered tin-plated high-carbon steel. The result is a bright, balanced electric guitar tone with plenty of clarity and that immediately familiar Slinky feel.
Super Slinkys have been used by some fairly serious names too, with Ernie Ball listing players including Jimmy Page, Angus Young and Iron Maiden among their users. Not bad company for a little pink packet of wire.
And because this is the 3223 three-pack, you've got three complete sets ready to go. Keep one on the guitar, one in the gig bag and one safely hidden from the guitarist who always seems to need to “borrow” a high E.
At Musicmaker, Super Slinkys are about as close as guitar strings get to an institution. Light, lively, dependable and ridiculously easy to bend – and with three sets in the pack, you can keep the guitar feeling fresh for considerably longer.
