Ernie Ball 2216 Skinny Top Beefy Bottom (.010-.054)

Ernie Ball 2216 Skinny Top Beefy Bottom (.010-.054)

The Ernie Ball 2216 Skinny Top Beefy Bottom Electric Guitar Strings (.010–.054) are designed for players who want the best of both worlds: smooth, flexible treble strings for bending and lead work, paired with heavier bass strings for tight, powerful rhythm tones.

This hybrid gauge combines light top strings (.010, .013, .017) with heavier bottom strings (.030, .042, .054), giving you the freedom to bend and solo comfortably while maintaining a solid, punchy low end. It’s a popular choice among rock and metal guitarists who want their riffs to hit hard without sacrificing lead playability.

Like all Ernie Ball Slinkys, the wound strings are crafted from nickel-plated steel wrapped around a hex-shaped steel core, producing a bright, balanced tone with strong output and excellent durability. The plain strings are made from specially tempered tin-plated high-carbon steel for consistent tuning stability and feel.

The heavier low strings hold their tension well for drop tunings and aggressive rhythm playing, while the lighter top strings make expressive bends and fast lead lines effortless.

At Musicmaker, hybrid sets like the Skinny Top Beefy Bottom are a favourite among players across Ireland who want versatility without compromise — powerful rhythm tone below and smooth lead performance above.
