Evans EMAD Calftone Bass Drum Head - 18"
Evans EMAD Calftone Bass Drum Head - 18"
The Evans EMAD Calftone 18" Bass Drum Head is where vintage warmth meets modern control. Designed to capture the classic look and rich, warm tone of natural calfskin while giving you the reliability and versatility of modern drumhead technology, this is a head that makes your kick sing with depth, punch, and character.
Constructed with a single ply of 12-mil film and laminated with Evans’ unique Calftone material, it produces a warm, round, and full-bodied sound that feels at home in jazz, funk, soul, and classic rock, while still delivering enough low-end thump for contemporary players. The Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping (EMAD) system gives you full control over your sustain and attack, allowing you to fine-tune your bass drum’s response by simply swapping out the damping rings.
The 18" size makes it a perfect match for smaller kick drums, offering focused projection with plenty of vintage-style warmth. Whether you’re looking for a kick that blends beautifully in acoustic settings or cuts with definition in the studio, this head gives you the best of both worlds.
At Musicmaker, we love drumheads that bring flavour and flexibility, and the Evans EMAD Calftone does exactly that—retro-inspired tone, modern durability, and customisable control, all in one head.
