Evans G1 Coated Bass Drum Head - 18"
Evans G1 Coated Bass Drum Head - 18"
The Evans G1 Coated Bass Drum Head – 18" is a shining example of simplicity done right. Built with a single ply of 10mil film, this head is designed to sing—not just thump. Its open, full-bodied tone is warm and resonant, with just enough attack to cut through when needed, yet sensitive enough to capture the subtle nuances of your playing. Whether you're laying down smooth jazz grooves, minimalist indie beats, or low-volume acoustic rhythms, this head delivers tone with character.
The coated finish offers added warmth and a touch of dryness, balancing out the natural resonance of the single ply. This also makes it a dream for brushwork, adding that velvety texture perfect for softer playing styles. Despite its minimalist construction, the G1 Coated is impressively durable and responsive across a wide dynamic range.
Thanks to Evans' Level 360 collar design, tuning is effortless—no awkward seating or dead zones—just smooth tuning from edge to centre. Whether you're using it as a batter head for an expressive feel or as a resonant head to project a rich, open sustain, the 18" G1 Coated responds beautifully in any role.
At Musicmaker, we've seen this head transform compact kits, bop rigs, and portable setups into articulate, resonant beasts. It’s a top pick for players who want to bring out the natural tone of their bass drum shell without the muffled weight of more processed heads.
