Evans Onyx Drum Head - 16"
Evans Onyx Drum Head - 16"
The Evans Onyx Drum Head – 16" is built for drummers who want a deep, punchy tone with a dark edge and serious durability. It’s got a look that stands out — and a sound to match.
Constructed with two plies of 7.5mil film, the Onyx head delivers a focused, controlled response with plenty of low-end weight. It’s ideal for players who hit with intent and want a head that can handle it without losing tone. The signature matte black Onyx coating isn’t just for looks (though it does look class on a kit). It contributes to a darker, slightly drier sound, helping to tame overtones and keep everything tight and punchy. You get a shorter sustain and a more controlled attack, which works brilliantly in live settings.
At 16", it’s a perfect match for floor toms, giving you that low, thunderous thump while still staying defined and articulate. It’s particularly well suited to rock, metal, and heavier styles, but it’s versatile enough for any situation where you want control, depth, and a bit of attitude in your tone.
This is a head that doesn’t ring out endlessly — it gets in, delivers the hit, and gets out cleanly.
