Evans Torque Key - DATK
Evans Torque Key - DATK
The Evans Torque Key (DATK) is a brilliantly simple tool for drummers who want consistent, repeatable tuning without the guesswork. Designed to apply a preset amount of torque to each tension rod, it helps you achieve even tension across the drumhead — one of the most important factors in getting great tone.
Set to release at 20 lb-in of torque, the Evans Torque Key clicks when the correct tension is reached, letting you tune each lug evenly and confidently. This makes it especially useful when changing heads, setting up a kit quickly before a gig, or returning to a familiar tuning after transport. It’s also a fantastic learning aid for developing drummers who want to understand proper tuning fundamentals.
Compact, lightweight and easy to keep in a stick bag or hardware case, the Torque Key is a handy companion for rehearsals, studios and live work alike. It won’t replace fine-tuning by ear, but it gets you to a consistent starting point fast — exactly why it’s such a popular tool and one we’re always happy to recommend here at Musicmaker.
