Remo 12" Powerstroke 3 Coated

Remo 12" Powerstroke 3 Coated

The Remo 12" Powerstroke 3 Coated Drum Head is one of the most trusted and widely used drum heads in modern drumming for good reason. Known for its punchy attack, controlled sustain, and warm tonal character, the Powerstroke 3 has become a go-to choice for drummers who want a focused sound that still feels lively and musical under the sticks.

Built from a single ply of coated film with Remo’s integrated underlay dampening ring, the Powerstroke 3 strikes an excellent balance between openness and control. The built-in dampening subtly reduces unwanted overtones without choking the drum’s natural resonance, giving you a fat, punchy tone that sits beautifully in both live and studio settings.

On a 12" tom or snare, the coated Powerstroke 3 delivers a warm, full-bodied sound with excellent attack and a slightly shortened sustain that keeps things clean and controlled. The coated finish adds extra warmth and smoothness while also enhancing stick articulation and brush response, making it a versatile option across multiple genres and playing styles.

Whether you’re playing rock, blues, indie, funk, pop, country, or heavier modern styles, this head adapts effortlessly to different tuning ranges and playing dynamics. Tuned low, it produces deep punch and weight; tuned higher, it retains clarity and definition without sounding thin.

At Musicmaker, the Powerstroke 3 remains one of those drum heads we recommend constantly because it simply works—easy to tune, durable, and capable of delivering that polished, professional drum sound with minimal fuss.
