Remo 16" Powerstroke 3 Coated

Remo 16" Powerstroke 3 Coated

The Remo 16" Powerstroke 3 Coated Drum Head is a go-to choice for drummers who want a floor tom sound that’s deep, punchy, and controlled without losing warmth or musical resonance. Part of Remo’s legendary Powerstroke series, this head has become a staple for players looking for that polished, studio-ready tone straight from the kit with minimal extra dampening required.

Constructed from a single ply of coated film with Remo’s integrated underlay dampening ring, the Powerstroke 3 strikes a superb balance between openness and control. On a 16" floor tom, it produces a huge, warm low-end response with focused sustain and a satisfying attack that cuts clearly through live mixes without sounding overly ringy or uncontrolled.

The coated finish adds extra warmth and smoothness to the overall tone while enhancing stick articulation and feel. Tuned low, this head absolutely shines—delivering thunderous floor tom punch ideal for rock, indie, pop, blues, worship, and heavier modern styles. At higher tunings, it retains clarity and definition while still sounding full and musical.

One of the reasons drummers consistently return to the Powerstroke 3 is how easy it is to tune. The built-in overtone control naturally tightens the sound without choking the drum, helping players achieve a focused, professional tone quickly and reliably in both studio and live settings.

At Musicmaker, this is one of those floor tom heads we recommend constantly because it simply works: warm, punchy, durable, and incredibly versatile across a wide range of musical situations.
