Remo 22" Powerstroke 3 Coated Bass
Remo 22" Powerstroke 3 Coated Bass
The Remo 22" Powerstroke 3 Coated Bass Drum Head is one of the most iconic kick drum heads ever made, trusted by generations of drummers for its powerful low-end punch, controlled sustain, and warm, mix-ready tone. Whether you’re playing rock, pop, blues, indie, country, worship, or modern live sessions, this head delivers that polished “finished” bass drum sound with remarkably little effort.
Built from a single ply of coated film with Remo’s integrated underlay dampening ring, the Powerstroke 3 offers a beautifully balanced response that controls excessive overtones without choking the natural resonance of the drum. The result is a deep, focused kick sound with plenty of body and attack while still feeling open and musical under the pedal.
The coated finish adds extra warmth and a slightly softer attack compared to clear alternatives, giving the drum a fuller and rounder tonal character that works exceptionally well in live mixes and studio recordings alike. Tuned low, it produces huge, punchy low-end thump with controlled sustain. Tightened slightly, it becomes articulate and focused while retaining impressive depth.
One of the biggest reasons drummers continue to rely on the Powerstroke 3 Bass is its simplicity. It tunes easily, responds consistently, and often requires very little additional muffling to achieve a professional kick drum sound. It’s equally at home in small club gigs, larger stages, recording sessions, and rehearsal rooms.
At Musicmaker, this remains one of our most recommended bass drum heads because it consistently delivers warmth, punch, reliability, and versatility across almost every style of modern drumming.
