The JET Guitars JS-450 TBL – Transparent Blue is the sort of guitar that makes you stop scrolling for a second. That gorgeous flamed maple top, deep blue finish and roasted maple neck give it some serious boutique-guitar swagger, while underneath the fancy clothes sits a hugely practical HSS pickup configuration ready to cover everything from glassy cleans to properly muscular rock tones.

The body combines basswood with a flamed maple top, finished in Transparent Blue to really let that figuring do its thing. Flip the guitar around and you're greeted by a Canadian roasted maple neck and fingerboard – and that's not merely there to look tasty. Roasting helps remove moisture from the timber, contributing to greater stability while giving the neck that lovely darker, played-in appearance.

JET has earned plenty of attention for its necks, and the JS-450 continues the theme. A comfortable Modern C profile, 9.5" fingerboard radius, 25.5" scale and 22 frets give it a familiar, easy-going feel that's equally comfortable for chords, bends and faster lead work. The fingerboard edges are smoothly rolled too, helping the guitar feel nicely broken-in from the off.

Then we get to the HSS pickup layout, and this is where the JS-450 becomes a proper all-rounder. Two ceramic single coils handle those clear, snappy neck and middle sounds, while the ceramic bridge humbucker adds extra output, thickness and punch when it's time for bigger riffs and driven lead tones. A five-way selector, Master Volume and Master Tone keep everything pleasingly straightforward.

There's a two-point tremolo for adding everything from subtle chord shimmer to more enthusiastic pitch wobbling, while locking machine heads make string changes quicker and help keep things stable when you're actually using that trem. They're the kind of hardware upgrade we're always delighted to see on a guitar in this territory.
