Vater 5A Stretch Wood Tip

Vater 5A Stretch Wood Tip

The Vater 5A Stretch Wood Tip Drumsticks take one of the most familiar stick sizes out there and give it a subtle but seriously useful twist. Think classic 5A feel — just with a bit more reach and leverage where it counts.

At its core, this is still very much a 5A stick, with that well-balanced, all-rounder weight and diameter that works across pretty much any style. But the “Stretch” part comes from the added length, giving you a bit more throw, power, and presence without changing the overall feel too drastically.

That extra length makes a real difference. You get more reach around the kit, a slightly stronger stroke, and a bit more volume when you dig in — all while keeping the familiar control and comfort of a standard 5A. It’s a small adjustment that opens things up nicely, especially for players who want a bit more without jumping up to a heavier stick.

The medium taper keeps the balance feeling natural, with a good mix of rebound and control, making it easy to move between grooves, fills, and lighter playing.

Up top, the wood tip delivers a warm, rounded cymbal tone, keeping things musical and versatile across different styles. Nothing too bright or harsh — just that classic, reliable sound.

Made from hickory, they’ve got the durability and shock absorption you’d expect, so they’ll hold up well whether you’re practising, recording, or gigging regularly.

At Musicmaker, this is the stick we’d suggest when someone says, “I like 5As… I just want a bit more reach and punch.” It’s a subtle upgrade that feels instantly natural.
